Upgrading the weapons is not needed for the trophy. Also make sure you always destroy boxes in the environment because they contain bolts.
You can repeat these for more money, or play Challenge Mode (New Game+), because enemies drop more bolts there. The Challenges take place on Planet 3: Scarstu Debris Field and they give lots of bolts quickly. You should have just enough money (bolts) to buy everything after finishing the story and after playing through all Battleplex Challenges once.
